托福閱讀之句子插入題分析系列之三

簡(jiǎn)短回顧一下, 上次我們總結(jié)出想解決這種題型必須找到待插入句子中的線索, 然后驗(yàn)證該句在原文中是否起到承上啟下作用. 同時(shí),也領(lǐng)略了第一類線索, 代詞指代和邏輯關(guān)系. 那么,今天我們來(lái)探究第三類線索, 重復(fù)的核心詞.

核心詞是指待插入的句子和原文某句中有重復(fù)出現(xiàn)的原詞, 原詞通常是名詞., 這個(gè)原詞可以作為解題線索使用.

例子一

■【A】The climatic changes in southwestern Asia were more subtle, in that they involved shifts in mountain snow lines, rainfall patterns, and vegetation cover. ■【B】However, these same cycles of change had momentous impacts on the sparse human populations of the region. ■【C】At the end of the Ice Age, no more than a few thousand foragers lived along the eastern Mediterranean coast, in the Jordan and Euphrates valleys. Within 2,000 years, the human population of the region numbered in the tens of thousands, all as a result of village life and farming. ■【D】Thanks to new environmental and archaeological discoveries, we now know something about this remarkable change in local life.

待插入句子討論了其中之一的影響就是人口的快速增長(zhǎng), 判斷上下文應(yīng)該和人口population有關(guān)系. 回原文閱讀發(fā)現(xiàn), A和population無(wú)關(guān), B后出現(xiàn)了population, C的前后都有population, D選項(xiàng)講論今天的人們和待插入句無(wú)關(guān). 驗(yàn)證發(fā)現(xiàn)C選項(xiàng)的前研究對(duì)人口的影響,C后舉例子來(lái)具體解釋對(duì)人口的影響, 符合線索判斷, 確定C就是答案.

重復(fù)的核心詞除了可以幫我們正面找答案, 也可以輔助我們使用排除法. 來(lái)看上次的例子.

Paragraph 5: █Modern architectural forms generally have three separate components comparable to elements of the human body; a supporting skeleton or frame, an outer skin enclosing the interior spaces, and equipment, similar to the body’s vital organs and systems. █The equipment includes plumbing, electrical wiring, hot water, and air-conditioning. █Of course in early architecture—such as igloos and adobe structures—there was no such equipment, and the skeleton and skin were often one. █

上次講解從however轉(zhuǎn)折邏輯出發(fā), 今天我們從重復(fù)的核心詞角度來(lái)研究這個(gè)題目. B前句最后提到了equipment, 同時(shí)B后句主語(yǔ)也是equipment, 說(shuō)明這2句話不可拆解也與待插入句子無(wú)關(guān),因?yàn)椴迦刖錄](méi)有涉及equipment, 這么簡(jiǎn)單粗暴就可以判斷答案是D. 所以, 解題的時(shí)候大家可以靈活使用這3種方法, 達(dá)到快準(zhǔn)做題的目的.
